Stefanie Wilder Taylor
Raising preemie twin girls plus a sassy preschooler while trying to make a book deadline would drive any mom to drink. Stefanie Wilder-Taylor is the author of Sippy Cups Are Not for Chardonnay and Naptime Is the New Happy Hour. She’s appeared numerous times on The Today Show, is a member of the Us Weekly Fashion Police and writes on her blog, Baby On Bored. I Believe.

I believe there’s no shame in loving Barry Manilow. I believe that people who don’t drink coffee in the morning are suspect. I believe flossing every day is overkill. more

Sadie Weighs In.

I haven’t talked about Sadie here in awhile, mainly because things have been moving along at a snail’s pace –steady but aggravatingly slow. When you have a child with “issues” and by issues I don’t mean and irritatingly passive aggressive personality, I mean developmentally delayed, small accomplishments are met with big celebration. more

Hair of the Dog.

I’ve been off the sauce for more than two weeks and today, I feel much better. What’s really funny to me is that although the comments I received on my personal blog and this Mommy Track’d column have been overwhelmingly positive, understanding and supportive, a few (mainly at another site that linked to this site) have taken some stabs at me more

My Sobering Secret.

I talk about drinking a lot on my blog. I've talked about it a lot in my books. I really like to drink. I like the way wine softens the edges, smoothes out the line between "their time" and "my time," helps me to feel relaxed, helps me tune out. But I drink too much. I drink seven nights a week. Sometimes just a glass of wine but usually two or three or even more. I always seem to have some sort of excuse like, "Today was an exceptionally stressful day so I deserve an extra glass now that it's all done." more

I’d Like To Have a Word With Walt.

Today my friend Diana asked me if I wanted to go to Disneyland this weekend. “Yeah, NO.” Many of my friends including Diana are big Disney fanatics; several of them own season passes and think nothing of simply going for the afternoon. I am not one of those people; I have my reasons. more

In Defense of Formula.

I have to touch on a political hot button for a few minutes. And it has nothing to do with the Middle East but everything to do with mammary glands. I'm just sick of the culture of breastfeed or die out there right now. more

Time Well Spent?

My husband graciously offered to watch the kids for me on Mother’s Day so I could take some time for myself (he actually didn’t but let’s pretend he did for the sake of this column). It started me thinking about what it is I actually used to do before every waking moment was spent bathing, feeding, buying food for, tickling, singing to, or worrying about, a child. more

Diary of a Twins Doctor Appointment.

Having twins is lots of fun (okay, not really, but I wanted to start on a positive note) –except when you have to take them both to the pediatrician. And even more especially when you’re trying to avoid Swine Flu like the plague (so to speak). About the last place you want to be is ground zero –and by that I don’t mean Mexico, I mean the inside of any health care facility. more

Babar the Elephant – Friend or Freak?

The other night my daughter Elby pulled off of her bookshelf “The Story of Babar” to read as her bedtime story – a welcome respite from the endless recitations of Knuffle Bunny Too, Leonardo the Terrible Monster and a few Richard Scarry books which have been on an endless loop. more

Dispatches From the Mind of My Four-Year-Old.

4:30 a.m. Hmm…I’m half awake. It would be so much comfier in mommy and daddy’s bed right smack between them where I can make my body seem almost twice as big and mommy and daddy can pretty much kiss the rest of their sleep goodbye. more
