A mother and son will soon be serving in the same National Guard unit in Iraq, the Associated Press reported. The 46-year-old mother, a combat medic, just got her transfer orders to join her 29-year-old son’s unit, AP said. The mother’s fiancé, a sergeant in a Guard helicopter unit, is also scheduled to go to Iraq, though not as part of the same unit. (May 2008)
